The Austrian Aviation Museum was founded in 1979 to collect aircraft of all types and make them available to the public. It provides an interactive flight experience with a PC flight simulator and allows visitors to view the exhibits up close. The collection includes 2 gyroplanes, 13 jet airplanes, propellers and gliders, as well as an electromechanical flight simulator, engines, uniforms, and more. Some exhibits are displayed outdoors.
The museum also has an extensive model flight exhibition, which includes tethered flight models, remote-controlled models, model aircraft engines, and remote controls from various time periods. One of the museum's main goals is to build a second hall so that all exhibits can be safely stored. The jets on display include the Atlas/Aermacchi MB-326M “Impala”, the PZL TS-11 “Iskra”, the Saab J 29 “Flying Barrel”, the Saab J 32 “Lansen”, the Saab Sk35C “Draken” and the Saab J 35 Ö “Draken”.
